Proposed Alterations to Bowls Victoria Constitution

The Bowls Victoria Board at its most recent meeting held on Wednesday 18 June 2014 adopted the following amendments to alter the Bowls Victoria Constitution for it to comply with changes to the Associations Incorporation Reform Act Victoria, 2012.

These amendments will be presented as a Special Resolution in accordance with the current Bowls Victoria Constitution Rule 27 at the Association’s Annual General Meeting to be conducted on Wednesday 17 September 2014.

If the Special Resolution is adopted the amended constitution will then be put forward to the Annual General Meeting.
For approval, both resolutions require a 75% majority of those present and entitled to vote at the AGM.

The amended Bowls Victoria Constitution would then be forwarded to Consumer Affairs Victoria for final approval.

Champion of Champions Pairs

With the recent announcement that the State Champion of Champions Pairs events have been removed from the State Calendar of Events there is now the matter of how clubs can conduct their individual Men’s and Women’s Club Pairs Championships and comply with the provisions of the Equal Opportunity Act.

Bowls Victoria has informed the Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission of what the situation has been in regards to these two events being National pathway events and the next phase for Bowls Victoria is to seek if necessary, an exemption under the Act that can apply to all affiliated clubs for these events to continue as separate events into the future.

As information comes to hand, clubs will be kept informed of what is happening.
